The team is owned by Reliance Industries Limited. Mukesh Ambani heads the company and wife Nita Ambani takes active part in the workings of the team.
Kolkata Knight Riders





The KKR owner hardly needs an introduction. However, the other equally important owner of KKR is not talked about much. SRK's partner is Jay Mehta. He is Juhi Chawla's husband and is a British origin industrialist.

Apart from the much talked about Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia, the team is co-owned by Karan Paul, chairman of Apeejay Surrendra group and Mohit Burman of Dabur.

The team is owned by India Cements which is headed by N. Srinivasan. He is also involved in the BCCI and AICF i.e. the All India Carrom and Chess Federations.
Deccan Chargers





The team is owned by the Deccan Chronicle corporation. Gayatri Reddy, daughter of media baron T Venkattaram Reddy, heads the workings of the team and is very impressive at her job.
Royal Challengers Bangalore





Another team owner that needs no introduction is liquor baron Vijay Mallya. He placed the second highest bid at the IPL auction, next only to Mukesh Ambani.
Rajasthan Royals





Though the majority of limelight is hogged by Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra, the actual owner of the team is Manoj Badale, the co-founder of Blenheim Chalcot. Other investors in the team include Lachlan Murdoch, Aditya S Chellaram and Suresh Chellaram.
Delhi Daredevils





The fiery team is owned by GMR Group. The business group's core area lies in airports, highways, agriculture and energy. The corporation is owned by G. M. Rao.
Kochi Tuskers Kerala





The newest team to be initiated into IPL is owned by Rendezvous Sports World. It is a consortium made up of multiple companies. The group bought the team for an exorbitant amount of $333 million.
Pune Warriors India





Last but not the least, Pune Warriors was bought by Subrata Roy of Sahara Group for $378.2 million, which is the highest amount ever paid for a team in IPL. Subrata Roy has also written books on philosophy of life and is well-known for his philanthropic works.

Javed Miandad's six against India: Sharjah Cup 1986

Perhaps the most famous six of all time, was the one hit by Javed Miandad off Chetan Sharma in the last ball of the final over at the Sharjah Cup in 1986.
In this India-Pakistan match, Miandad's six led the Pakistani team to a thrilling victory. Prior to Sharjah, Pakistan had lost six of their nine ODI matches against India.
Miandad's thundering six probably had a crushing effect on the Indian bowlers which is why India lost the next eight out of nine matches to Pakistan.

India vs Australia: World Cup 1987

The first match of the 1987 World Cup was totally heartbreaking for the followers of the Indian team. Riding on their '83 World Cup win, India came across as a confident team.
Australia posted a score of 270 for India to chase. Following an aggressive 70 and 73 by Srikkanth and Sidhu, India looked set for a win at 207-3.
Suddenly India's batting order collapsed like a house of cards and India was reduced to 256-8. The last over saw India needing just 2 runs to win with 1 wicket in hand. Maninder was bowled and India lost the match by 1 run.

India Vs Sri Lanka: World Cup Semi-final 1996

After putting up a score of 251, Sri Lanka sought to defend it under the captaincy of Sanath Jayasuriya.
Sachin, like usual, led the Indian team's attack before he was stumped at 65 from 88 balls. After his dismissal, India dramatically slumped to 120-8 owing to the brilliance of Jayasuriya.
It was then that the match turned controversial after the crowd vented their frustration by burning paper and throwing bottles and stones at the fielders. The match was called of by the match referee and was awarded to Sri Lanka by default.

India vs England: 1987 World Cup

Kapil Dev won the toss and decided to let England bat. However, he became clueless when Graham Gooch repeatedly smacked the spinners towards the boundary. England posted a competitive score of 254.
Sunil Gavaskar fell cheaply and a similar tale of collapse followed. Kapil Dev got out to what people still remember as a reckless shot after scoring a brisk 30 leaving India at 204-6. The last 4 wickets were wrapped up for just 19 runs which left the nation stunned.
India's dream of lifting a consecutive World Cup were crushed and so were a million hopes.

India vs Pakistan: Chennai Test 1999

This was one of the most heart-breaking moments for Sachin Tendulkar fans i.e cricket fans in general.
Sachin played brilliantly on a pitch that was not meant to favour the batsmen.Sachin was determined to steady the rocky Indian ship and steer them to victory against the Pakistani team.
He put up a brave score of 136 before falling prey to Saqlain Mushtaq. Moin Khan stated, in a press conference, that he had never seen shots like that in his career before.
India needed just 17 runs to win in 95 overs with 3 wickets remaining. India, however, lost 3 wickets for 4 runs in 4 overs and India lost the match by a 12 run victory.
Sachin, who was adjudged the Man of the Match, was so upset that he never turned up to collect the award.

World Cup trophy lifted by Team India is fake DUBAI - The ICC World Cup trophy that Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his team mates proudly lifted was a fake one, India Today magazine reported on its website. This has never happened in the 36-year history of the cricket World Cup, the website reported. According to the website, the real trophy valued at $130,000 was seized by the Mumbai Customs and locked in a government warehouse on its arrival from Sri Lanka after the semifinals on March 29. Several factors are responsible for the trophy being held up in the airport, the website reported. Under the Indian customs rule, the World Cup trophy was not eligible for exemption from import duty. A combination of mismanagement from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and intricate Indian government rules made sure that the trophy stayed locked at the airport, the website reported.  "The ICC has been insisting that the trophy which came on the flight from Colombo (after the Sri Lanka-New Zealand semi-finals on March 29) is a replica of the original World Cup trophy that is already at the Wankhede Stadium," the website quoted a customs official as saying. "ICC officials told us that that this trophy has no commercial value as it is used for promotions only. However, when examined by a valuer, the trophy was estimated to be worth Rs 60 lakh ($135,104) or so, made of pure silver and gold. The payable customs duty is about Rs15 lakh ($33,776). If it is a replica, then does it have to be exactly of the same value as the supposed trophy? Moreover, the ICC letter that the official was carrying said that it was the World Cup trophy. Nowhere did the letter say that it was a replica and it should be let out," the customs official saId. The ICC, meanwhile, is desperately trying to cover up its fiasco, the website reported. A top ICC official has said that the real trophy is never presented to the winning team and only the replica is presented to the winner, the website reported. But photographs of Australia captains Steve Waugh (1999) and Ricky Ponting (2003, 2007) receiving the original trophy, which was instituted in 1999, prove otherwise. The base of the original trophy has names of all the winners since 1975 engraved on it while the one presented to Dhoni had a blank black base, proving that the trophy was a fake one, the website reported.
