Dear Friends,

Just cannot believe Bhasha Day is upon us! The class parents know that this is the time to share our activities. Please see below for all the details. This year our calendar was completely reworked due to the budget situation and our dramatic rent increase - more about that in a later newsletter.

Over the holidays, we had talked about how YICG resembles a traditional thali and Vasundhara came across this great article on the Talking Thali - you will find it touching, nostalgic and probably inspiring!

Another poignant reflection from the DailyOm had me, once again, deeply moved by the wonderful people in our group, who make our institution happen and give each other so much support. Do tell me what you think. It is called Fellowship with a Purpose.

We have many wonderful projects for the year ahead, especially a Women's Forum, a concept germinating for a long time. Would you like to be a part of it and contribute your considerable talents? If so, hit the reply button!!

Our next BANYAN meet will be on March 3rd. Our Adult Mentors are developing a stronger sense of their roles and it is wonderful to see so many youth participate. If you are interested in being a Mentor please tell us. Look here for the last BANYAN pictures !!

Mark your calendar for March 11th, Sunday for a special Film showing at the Sid Jacobson JCC in Roslyn. This is a unique collaboration with the JCC, over a year in the making. It is a free family event, film with refrehments and discussions afterwards so that we can meet and connect. Let your friends and family know. There is pre-film workshop at 3 p.m. on Sari wearing and Challah making. Great for teens.

Click here for details. "Next Year in Bombay".

This is an award winning film, released in 2010.

Click here for the official film website. Hope to see you all! Look forward to a reply with an rsvp!

Each hindi class will participate in the festival at their regular class times. We are looking for parent volunteers to take photographs of the event. If you are available, please email  us at yicgroup99@gmail.com. Looking forward to seeing all of you in the cafeteria this Saturday.

YICG is proud to present BANYAN - Build A Novel Youth Adult Network!
It is an exciting opportunity for middle and high school students currently enrolled in our Saturday programs to be a part of this program geared toward having small groups of students working with a mentor in various team-building and mentoring activities. The goal of this program is to bring out leadership skills among our students using fun projects under the guidance of a group of adults from our community.
Activities planned during the session hours include Cooking Contests, Basketball Competitions, Spring Walkathon, Improvised Public Speaking and so on. We also plan to bring in special guests from time to time to work with the entire group.
