Oh! What a pity. This is a record price, Rs.11 for a raw coconut in the farm itself. Once, the farmers were at the buyer's mercy. Now buyers are running after them. A record is the coconut industry of Kerala. But no pluckers, no harvesters.
Dear government, this is not your merit but a natural phenomenon. This might not last long. So give them pluckers, harvesters. What is your department doing?
Let the NGO's come out. We have an association for everything - even for protecting a stray dog from a poisonous king cobra. Who is to protect this helpless farmer, who is deseparately running after a plucker?
Do some home work; make a harvesters' teams at any cost. Their wages, however, high is no problem for the farmer. Government, you did nothing to help them. Now, at least provide them for a timely harvest. You are their only hope!
