I too agree with Mr. Yohannan Jacob. The article given by Mr. Joe Joseph is nothing but, baseless. Being a person born and brought up in rich cultures of Kerala, he should have been proud to be a malayalee. Instead, he is telling that English language is the most beautiful language than all other languages. This is a typical malayalee's mentality. I have been in Gujarat since last 30 years and both of my children born and brought up in Gujarat, still they are very well fluent in Malayalam language. Mr. Joe Joseph is not an exception. I have seen many malayalees, whether stay in Kerala or outside kerala, used to communicate in English when they talk to another malayalee. Malayalee is the only person in the world who do not like his own language. For example, if a Gujarati meets another Gujarati, not only in Gujarat, but anywhere in the world, they use to talk in Gujarati only. It is true that English has its importance, no doubt. It does not mean that English is the superior language than all other language. Kerala is the only state in India where English language is used as a medium for communication in government departments. In all other states, they use their own language for government communication. Somebody like Mr. Joseph thinks that English Langugage is everything, may be because he is a person teaching English. At this point, I have a question, whether he communicate with his children and other family members in English only. This is a common phenomina amongst malayalees. I am associated with Kerala Samajam of Bhavnagar since last more than 25 years. When we call for General Body Meetings, some so-called prominent personalities speaks only in English, with an excuse that they cannot communicate effectively in Malayalam, even though born and brought up and spent major part of their life in Kerala. At many times, we had to warn them to either speak in malayalam or keep mum. A Malayalee should be proud of his mother tounge and proud to be a malayalee. Malayalam is a very beautiful language without any limitations for usage. However, in English, there are very limitations and we have to use the same word for different meaning at different place. Now think, which language is more beautiful, Malayalam or English. Defenitely, it is Malayalam for a true malayalee. There is a contradiction in Mr. Joseph's article. On one hand he says English is the most beautiful language and on the other hand, he says he is proud of Malayalam language. Putting legs on both boats is not desirable and there are chances to fall in water. I remember an ancient saying "chorivideyum kooravdeyum". Thanks, K.P.
