Lets visit an ancient Uzbekistan town Shakhrisabz located in 80 km to the south from Samarkand. It is world-famous as the motherland of Tamerlan, the greatest commander and a statesman who made it the second capital of his huge medieval empire The mountain pass which is 2000 meters high leads to the city. The territory resembles American prairies and was once used when a movie was shot. Local people were acting as Indians. This is how meat is sold here. It is hanging like this not far from the road staying in the heat the whole day. No fridges are used. The sellers usually know beforehand which neighbors are going to buy the meat and how much of it they want. Shopping stalls under the heating sun. They sell dried fruits and herbs gathered in the mountains. These people live by trade and stay right here the whole summer. They have a house in the nearby village which lacks gas supply and sees electricity some hours in the morning and in the evening. This is where the boy sleeps at night. The place is occupied by neighbors. Shakhrisabz is located in the valley with its three sides surrounded by the mountains. It is inhabited by 50 thousand people. Selling gold. Women are sitting in the shadow and holding golden goods on their knees. Actually the business is illegal but the people are not disturbed by the local authorities. The woman has golden teeth. Having such teeth is actively practiced in remote regions till now. A small tea-house where only tea and pies can be bought. Favorite position of some tradesmen. The woman makes things right here and sells them. Asking for a handout. The boys hands are free and he is protected from the sun. The machine used to sell soda water. Bags are often carried by women. Monument to Tamerlan. Wedding. Beggars. Ruins of Tamerlan palace. Selling watermelons. Pomegranate is growing in the street. Donkeys which are very popular here are freed in winter and they always come back in spring. Tabasco field. The mosque.
The big wheel was built at the Soviet times.
